New England Festival of Thanksgiving, 6 p.m., celebrating the 10th anniversary of basilica status, with sacred music, featuring more than 100 voices of the festival adult choir, the Evangel University Chorale and the adult hand-bell and children’s choirs. The event is held in conjunction with The Mark Thallander Foundation at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St., Lewiston. The church was named a basilica by the Vatican in 2004 and is one of 60 basilicas in the country. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. An organ and brass prelude will precede the festival. The event is free, with donations welcome, and is open to all.

Wednesday

Harvesting Our Wisdom: A Sukkot (harvest) Celebration, 7:30 p.m., with Legacy Writers from the Harvesting Our Wisdom program and ChIME graduates. Congregation Bet Ha’am, 81 Westbrook St., South Portland. A social hour will follow.

Maine author Lois Lowry, 7 p.m., will be the guest speaker at the annual Butterfield Series at Trinity Episcopal Church, 580 Forest Ave, Portland. Her novel, “The Giver,” is now a motion picture. The program is free.

Next Level Church has been named the fifth fastest growing church in America and is the first New England church to be listed in Outreach Magazine’s annual Top 100 issue. The church has locations in Portland and Somersworth, Epping and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Plans are underway to open its fifth and sixth locations in 2015, with hopes to have 20 locations by 2020.
