I find it astounding that voters favoring Sen. Susan Collins do not realize they are supporting the Republican Party, which is committed to policies benefiting the rich and corporations at the expense of the middle class and poor.

Sen. Collins shows this commitment in her recent “no” vote on a bill calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which sets no limits on corporations’ and PACs’ donations to influence elections.

Further evidence of Collins’ lack of support for working Mainers is her “no” vote on legislation raising the hourly minimum wage to a paltry $10.10.

It would be a disaster for middle-class and low-income Americans if the Republican Party were to take control of the Senate in November. A vote for Susan Collins would make this event would more likely. A vote for Democratic candidate Shenna Bellows would reduce the chance.
