Right now, some very pricey lobbyists are watching with bated breath for the results of our Senate race. These lobbyists are like vultures circling a dying carcass for their affluent contributors to bring these lucrative contracts to their home state.

We have recently all lived with having Portsmouth Naval Shipyard’s head on the chopping block. It’s been close every time.

We need a senior, high-ranking senator to keep the shipyard open. We need to keep Republican Sen. Susan Collins in office.

Can you imagine our economy without the shipyard’s payroll? Even the out-of-state employees are paying the state of Maine income tax.

Once the shipyard goes, maybe Bath Iron Works will be next.
