I have known independent Eliot Cutler for years, and I’ve come to know Democrat Mike Michaud.

I know their records. Eliot is a brilliant policy expert; Mike would be an effective, inclusive leader in Augusta. Both have integrity and would move Maine forward.

But the question we face in the voting booth isn’t which of these good men should lead us – it’s whether to re-elect Paul LePage.

Eliot is running a distant third and has stopped his TV campaign. Only Mike can beat LePage.

Do we want to re-elect a divisive governor who has put our clean air and water at risk, left our children exposed to toxins and will not prepare us for our changing climate?

I view the election through the lens of two young granddaughters. For their sake, and Maine’s, I am voting for Mike Michaud. Let’s not re-elect a governor who will fiddle while Maine burns.
