Eliot Cutler, the independent candidate for governor, and Mike Michaud, the Democratic candidate, are friends of mine. I worked with Eliot for Sen. Ed Muskie in the early 1970s and served together with Mike in Congress for six years.

In 2010, I voted for Eliot; this year, I am voting for Mike. In a nutshell, here’s why.

No one, especially a governor, accomplishes anything important alone. Mike Michaud, because of his temperament and experience, is the best positioned after the election to bring together his supporters and his opponents to strengthen Maine’s economy and improve the lives of Maine people.

He worked across the aisle effectively in Congress. I am confident he will do the same as Maine’s governor.
