As an animal damage control agent, I will be directly involved in trapping the problem bears Question 1 is sure to create.
“Yes on 1” is a conscious decision to ignore our biologists’ warnings that danger of death is imminent. It brings bear trapping from backwoods to backyards. It surrenders control of bears, to bears controlling us.
If Maine votes “yes,” a new “wildlife tax” will be implemented on all building and landowners. Landlords, unable to absorb this new cost, will pass it to tenants. It’s foolish, expensive and dangerous.
It’s been said that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” In this case, a simple “No on 1” is worth 7 million pounds of doughnuts.
