Voters in Greater Portland headed to the polls on Tuesday to determine local, state and federal elections, with turnout on the heavy side according to reports.

Along with determining state and federal Senate and House as well as governor contests, some of the key issues being decided by local voters include a referendum legalizing recreational marijuana in South Portland, library renovations in Cape Elizabeth, a new public safety building in Gorham, school withdrawal efforts in Freeport and Raymond, a new athletic complex in Gray as well as council and school board term limits and new sidewalks in Standish.
