AUBURN — A former Auburn city councilor who also once published a local magazine and organized a community film festival has been indicted on child pornography charges.

An Androscoggin County grand jury handed up an indictment Wednesday against Joshua Shea, 38, including 10 charges of possession of sexually explicit materials that depicted a person younger than 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Shea was arrested in March and is free on $500 cash bail and is barred from having contact with anyone under 18 and barred from having Internet access.

His attorney, David Van Dyke, told the Sun Journal that Shea has been undergoing counseling and is “doing all the right things” and “looks to get past this.”
