Eliot Cutler’s supporters often characterized him as the smartest of the three candidates in the latest gubernatorial election. Oh, really? An intelligent person would have instantly recognized that unseating Gov. LePage would be the smartest thing for Maine.
Instead of withdrawing from the race a few days ago, however, Cutler insisted on valiantly carrying on. Strikes me more as egotism than intelligence – with a streak of arrogance and conceit.
Cutler should be smart enough, however, to know he’s finished in Maine politics. I doubt he could garner the votes to get elected as his own (future) campaign manager.
