Turkey and harvest dinner planned
The Durham Friends Meetinghouse, 532 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, is hosting a turkey and harvest dinner on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 5:30 p.m., with proceeds to benefit the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry.
On the menu are turkey and all the fixin’s, potatoes, squash and a variety of salads, quiche for vegetarians, and crisps and cobblers for dessert. Tickets in advance are $10 adults, $8 seniors and teens, $5 for children and $25 for a family of five. At the door, tickets are $12 adults, $10 seniors and teens, $5 children and $30 family of five. The meetinghouse is located at the corner of Route 125 (Pinkham Brook) and Quaker Meetinghouse (Durham) Road.
The LACO Food Pantry serves hundreds of people every month, people who otherwise cannot afford to put enough food on the table for their families. Donations of food and money are vital for the success of the food pantry.
Spirit of Christmas
Fair Dec. 5
The North Pownal United Methodist Church’s Spirit of Christmas Fair is Friday, Dec. 5, from 3-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Santa visits on Saturday from 10a.m.-2 p.m.
The fair will feature crafts, handmade items, Christmas items, baked goods, white elephant, the Candy Cane Cafe? and more.
Food on Friday, from 3-8 p.m., includes Zuppa soup, fish chowder, hot dogs, chicken salad and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, tea, coffee, punch and hot chocolate.
Food on Saturday, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., includes corn chowder, beef stew, ham Italians, egg salad, ham salad and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, tea, coffee, punch and hot chocolate.

PTA craft fair Saturday
The Durham Community School PTA craft fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Durham Community School gym.
Gun raffle
tickets on sale
Tickets are now available for the Durham Fire & Rescue’s eighth annual gun raffle, “30 Days-30 Guns in November.” The prizes are guns donated by Johnson’s Sporting Goods, 206 Bath Road, Brunswick.
Tickets are $20, and will be limited to 3,000 tickets. Odds of winning are 1 in 100.
Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Durham Fire & Rescue Department. They can also be obtained by calling 353-2473 or stopping by the station at 615 Hallowell Road. Tickets also can be purchased at the Durham Get & Go at 697 Royalsborough Road.

Pay taxes online
The town of Durham, through a partnership with Androscoggin Bank, now offers taxpayers the opportunity to pay their property taxes online from home, work, or any other convenient location, using e-checks, credit or debit cards.
E-checks/ACH (automated clearing house)/checking account: Residents will need to provide their account number and the bank’s routing number to pay by this method. A check image is available during the payment process to assist in locating this information. There will be a $1 processing fee assessed.
Credit/debit cards: The town accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards. There will be a 2.95 percent processing fee assessed per transaction with a minimum charge of $1.95 for credit cards. All Visa debit card transactions are $3.95. A card image is available during the payment process to assist in locating card information. To use this service go to the Durham website and click on Pay Taxes (at top of page in quick links) or under Online Services click Pay Real Estate Taxes. The resident’s account number from the tax bill will be needed.
AMVETS members

Rent Eureka Center
The Durham Eureka Community Center is available for rent. The maximum amount of people the hall holds for an event is 50. Contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323 or the Town Office at 353-2561.
Cribbage, couponing
The Durham Eureka Community Center, corner of Route 9 and Route 136, hosts cribbage every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon.
Couponing for the Community meets at the Community Center every other Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. It is a chance to learn couponing basics including where/how to find and collect coupons; how to organize them; and how to begin using them. Pat Provost heads this project with the hopes that some of the skills acquired will be used to give back to the community by helping families in need.
Food pantry
The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) food pantry, which serves the towns of Durham, Bowdoin, and Lisbon Falls, is open Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday from 8-10 a.m. The LACO Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street, Lisbon Falls. The parking lot is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church, off Berry Avenue. There is also a free clothing bank.
