I am mortified and appalled at the treatment of Kaci Hickox and our other heroes who have so selflessly given of themselves to our global neighbors in West Africa.

I grew up in Maine (and intend to retire there), and have been practicing public health for more than 25 years. We need to stop spreading inaccurate and false information and using this devastating disease for political gain.

Thank you, Kaci, for your compassion and courage in not only serving our neighbors in West Africa, but also for standing up for what is right in your treatment and educating Maine and others about basic public health and evidence-based medicine.
