The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said it plans to release on Monday the names of a woman killed and six others injured in a collision of two sport utility vehicles Saturday in Enfield.

The woman was killed when two SUVs crashed at the intersection of Route 2 and Mohawk Road at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office said.

It appeared that a northbound SUV crossed over the centerline and hit the other SUV heading south, the spokesman said. The woman in the southbound SUV was killed, and six others were injured.

The survivors were taken by helicopter and ambulance to area hospitals. No further details were released over the weekend.
