Firefighters limited the damage done to a lakefront home in Casco on Tuesday after a fire started in the vicinity of the house’s chimney and attached woodstove.
Deputy Fire Chief Brian Cole said the owners of the home on Sebago Lake called authorities around 3:30 p.m. to report that their home at 247 Lakewood Road was on fire.
Firefighters from Casco and Raymond responded and found that the fire had spread to the home’s attic. Most of the damage was confined to the attic.
“Luck was on our side. It was a quick knockdown and the home is still liveable,” Cole said.
Cole said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
