WINDHAM – Jen Alvino, director of the Windham Public Library, was presented with the 2014 Outstanding Librarian Award at the joint conference of the Maine Library Association and the Maine Association of School Libraries at the Cross Center in Bangor On Sunday, Nov. 16.

Letters supporting the nomination were provided by Maureen Sullivan, past president of the American Library Association; Andi Jackson-Darling, past president of the Maine Library Association; Windham Town Manager Tony Plante and Alvino’s colleagues at the library.

The nomination was based on her involvement in state, regional and national library groups, and her record of professional leadership. Alvino was instrumental in bringing the New England Library Association Fall Conference to Portland in October 2013, the first time it had been hosted in Maine.
