BABSON PARK, Mass.— Joey Flannery scored 19 points and Sam Bohmiller added 18 to lead Babson to a 68-48 win over Bowdoin in a men’s basketball game at Staake Gymnasium on Monday.

The Beavers (5-1) raced out to a 35-21 lead at the half.

John Swords scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Polar Bears (4-1). Keegan Pieri added 11 points while Lucas Hausman scored 10.

POLL: Kentucky (7-0), outscoring opponents by an NCAA-best 36.8 points a game, again got 62 of 65 first-place votes Monday in the Associated Press rankings.

No. 2 Wisconsin (7-0) was on top of the other ballots.

Arizona and Duke remained third and fourth. Louisville, Texas, Virginia, Wichita State, Gonzaga and Villanova rounded out the top 10.

Defending national champion Connecticut (3-2) dropped out of the poll after their second straight loss, 55-54, to Texas.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(1) SOUTH CAROLINA 90, NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL 26: Freshman A’ja Wilson scored 16 points and Tiffany Mitchell had 14 as South Carolina won easily at home.

(22) SYRACUSE 94, VERMONT 63: Cornelia Fondren had 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals in a romp for host Syracuse (5-1).

Vermont’s Sydney Smith had 18 points on six 3-pointers.

POLL: South Carolina is No. 1 in the AP rankings for the second straight week after winning the Junkanoo Jam.

The Gamecocks, who ascended to the top spot last week for the first time, beat Wisconsin and then-No. 22 Syracuse.

Notre Dame, Connecticut, Texas and Texas A&M round out the first five.
