Roger founded the literary magazine at Nasson College. He taught English at Edward Little High School in Auburn and had also been a disc jockey at WCME Radio. Roger was an avid ham radio operator. He had previously worked at H.B. Educational Systems and introduced audio visual literary programs to schools in Maine. He became the audio visual director at Bowdoin College and held that position for 11 years, during which time he received the highest award for his efforts.
He was an excellent photographer, avid hiker and loved the ocean.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Laurie Doran; two sons, Peter Doran and his wife Benita, John Doran and his wife Tammy; the mother of his sons, Ellen Sanborn; granddaughter Isabel Doran, grandson Justin Doran and his brother Paul Doran and wife Denise.
