SKOWHEGAN — Madeline M. Stephens, 92, of Skowhegan, formerly of Saco, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Redington- Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

Made-line was born in Ports-mouth, New Hampshire, on June 7, 1922, a daughter of Edward LaPrell. She was adopted by Margaret Cashman who raised her as her own child in a loving and nurturing home.

Madeline was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Saco for more than 40 years.

She was a daycare provider for most of her working career and always loved having children around. She enjoyed bowling and played on a league into her 80s. She liked to play bingo, do puzzles and spend time with friends and family.

Madeline was a very positive, appreciative, and caring woman. She will be best remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

She was predeceased by: her husband, Richard J. Stephens Sr.; two sons, Daniel Stephens and Richard J. Stephens Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Leskowsky.

Madeline is survived by: her son, Donald Stephens and his wife Donna; three daughters, Sharon Buzzell, Phyllis Perigo and her husband Michael, and Kathy Stephens; her brother, Warren LaPrell; a sister, Marie; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. A Graveside service will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, at 12:30 p.m., with Pastor Jamie St. Ours officiating. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
