NAPLES — Nick Hall hit a free throw with 1.7 seconds remaining Tuesday night to lift Lake Region to a 42-41 victory that sent Waynflete to its first Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball loss of the season.

With the score tied, Hall grabbed an offensive rebound and was fouled shooting. He missed the first shot but made the second.

Hall finished with eight points; Jack Lesure led the Lakers (8-3) with 10.

Milo Belleau scored 14 points for Waynflete (8-1), which led 35-30 through three quarters.

HYDE 45, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 27: Antoine Montgomery scored 12 points for the Phoenix (7-1) against the Panthers (5-6) at Bath.

Andrew Palermo added 10 points for Hyde.

SOUTH PORTLAND 69, BIDDEFORD 53: Jaren Muller and Matt Pelletier scored 14 points each as the Red Riots (9-2) downed Biddeford (1-10) at South Portland.

Ruay Bol added 12 points for South Portland, which led 39-20 at halftime.

Jason Vadnais led Biddeford with 14 points. Patrick Pearl added 13.

POLAND 65, KENNEBUNK 42: Derek Michaud scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and John Fossett added 19 to lead the Knights (6-5) past the Rams (4-7) at Kennebunk.

Poland led 28-24 at halftime and took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Rams 16-4 behind 12 points from Michaud.

The Knights also got 11 points from Alan Young. Jack Lapham led Kennebunk with 14.

CAPE ELIZABETH 63, TRAIP ACADEMY 41: Jack O’Rouke led a balanced offense with 15 points as the Capers (9-1) handled the Rangers (4-5) at Cape Elizabeth.

Edward Galvin scored 13 points for Cape Elizabeth, Justin Guerrette had 12 and Ethan Murphy 10.

Alex Foye led Traip with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Colin Macomber added 11 points.

PORTLAND 59, BONNY EAGLE 35: Stephen Alex scored 11 of his 25 points in the first quarter as Portland (9-0) defeated visiting Bonny Eagle (7-5).

The Bulldogs led 22-7 after the first quarter and the Scots never threatened. Portland led 51-27 after three periods.

Portland outrebounded Bonny Eagle 36-22 with Cedric Smith leading the way with nine. The Bulldogs also held Ben Malloy, the Scots’ top scorer, to five points.

A.R. GOULD 54, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 48: Gage Barton finished with 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Bears (2-8) over the Lions (2-7) at South Portland.

Matthew Hammond and Ethan Spaulding paced Greater Portland Christian with 12 points each.

BOOTHBAY REGION 70, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 45: John Hepburn had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Jacob Leonard added 13 points to lead the Seahawks (10-1) over the Mustangs (6-6) at Boothbay Harbor.

Joseph DiMauro added 10 points for Boothbay, which outscored Monmouth 17-8 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 33-18 lead.

Luke Thombs scored 19 points and Kasey Smith added 10 for Monmouth.

WESTBROOK 44, CHEVERUS 35: Sean Jany and Derrick Breunig combined for 10 points in the third quarter as the Blue Blazes (7-6) pulled away from the Stags (6-5) at Westbrook.

Breunig finished with a team-high 14 points, and Jany added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Blazes, who extended a 16-15 halftime lead to 27-17 through three quarters.

Zordan Holman led Cheverus with 10 points.

DEERING 80, GORHAM 51: Benedict Williams scored a game-high 22 points with five steals, and Garang Majok added 18 points and 11 rebounds as Deering (8-3) pulled away from Gorham (7-4) at Portland.

Gorham led 32-31 at halftime before Deering, which had a 27-12 advantage in turnovers for the game, took control.

Malik White also scored 18 points for Deering, which outscored Gorham 24-7 in the third quarter for a 55-39 lead. Williams had eight points in the quarter and Majok scored seven.

Sam Kilborn scored 16 points and Nick Thibeault had 15 for Gorham.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 63, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 54: Tyler St. Pierre had 20 points as the Patriots (5-5) cruised past the Raiders (5-5) at Gray.

Andreas Kariotis added 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and Zack Haskell had 16 points and seven steals for Gray-New Gloucester.

Ryan Gullickson scored 22 points for Fryeburg.

MARSHWOOD 66, NOBLE 38: Drew Bartlett scored 20 points to help Marshwood (5-5) down Noble (2-9) at South Berwick.

Bartlett hit two 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Hawks extended a 25-18 halftime lead to 45-27.

Nick Dalecki had nine points for Marshwood.

WINDHAM 72, THORNTON ACADEMY 46: Kevin Weisser scored 24 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead four players in double figures for the Eagles (7-4) against the Trojans (3-7) at Saco.

Ryan Gorman added 12 points, and Marcus D’Andrea and Troy Davis each scored 10 for the Eagles, who led 37-22 at halftime.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 55, MORSE 51: Brady Leeman scored 14 points and the Eagles (7-5) used a fourth-quarter push to get past the Shipbuilders (9-3) at Newcastle.

YORK 40, WELLS 29: Spencer Cribby scored 11 points as the Wildcats (4-6) knocked off the Warriors (1-9) at Wells.

York took a 28-15 lead to the third period, but Wells cut it to six in the fourth quarter.

HOCKEY

ST. DOMINIC 8, BRUNSWICK 2: Brad Berube had a pair of goals and four assists as the Saints (7-1-1) dominated the Dragons (8-2) at Brunswick.
