BANGOR – Prosecutors say a 29-year-old former resident of Bucksport has been sentenced to 45 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute the drug known as bath salts.

U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. sentenced April Kane to the prison term and three years of supervised release.

Court records say Kane illegally distributed the drug in Penobscot County and elsewhere between April and December of 2011. Records say she also distributed the drug to others it in the Bangor area.

Police arrested Kane in November 2011, when they say she was in possession of over 180 grams of bath salts, prescription drugs, marijuana, cash and a stun gun.

She is one of 18 defendants who pleaded guilty in Bangor to conspiring with Ryan Ellis to distribute bath salts. Ellis also pleaded guilty.
