BRUNSWICK — Mary E. Schreiber, age 86, of Kimberly Circle, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at her home. She was born on Oct. 19, 1928, the third of five children of George Sidney and Alverda Kennedy Wagoner in Downingtown, Pa.

Mary was educated in Downingtown schools and graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in home economics majoring in institutional management. She subsequently took a dietetic internship at the graduate hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mary worked for five years at Harkness Pavillion of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, followed by working a year and a half as dining room supervisor at the New York Telephone Company.

In 1957, she married Klaus O. Schreiber. Three children were born of the marriage, Susan Annette, Klaus Christian and Rolf Eric. The family resided at Yonkers, NY, Northbrook, Ill., and Mount Vernon, NY.

Mary volunteered as Brownie troop leader in Northbrook, Cub Scout den mother and as one of three Cadet Girls Scout leaders in Mount Vernon, NY.

A loving mother to her children, a devoted homemaker and untiring aide to Rolf ’s needs and handicaps, Mary was a caring partner and friend to her husband. Mary loved to travel to Europe and continued to follow her and her husband’s draw to the magic of Italy. Mary and Klaus settled in Brunswick, ME, where Mary was an eager helper in the Brunswick Food Bank. She was active in the Good Shepherd Church Women’s Organization.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Maine Street, Brunswick, ME, with the Rev. Rebecca Wegner officiating.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, 84A Union St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
