Both the four-seed Lakers and the five-seed Spruce Mountain Phoenix earned a bye through the first round of the 2015 postseason, but they clashed in Saturday’s quarterfinals at the Portland Expo. There, the two teams duked out a tight game – replete with gutsy ball movement and incredibly fun to watch – that came right down to the wire.

The Lakers’ Jack Lesure, who finished with seven, grabbed a pair of frees with 7.1 seconds remaining to put his squad up by a three, and teammate Nate Smith, who totaled 10, drained another just moments later to put them up by two possessions. Nick Hall added 13 in the narrow, 41-37 victory.

Spruce Mountain close their season at 11-8; Lake Region, now 14-5, moves on to face No. 1 Yarmouth in the semis at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19.
