Maine Juniors volleyball players on national Watch List
Five local Maine Juniors volleyball players are among 10 from the area chosen for the 2015 “Watch List” by the Junior Volleyball Association. Players include Cape Elizabeth’s Katie Connolly and Maggie Dadmun, Greely’s Kayley Cimino and Scarborough’s Kayla Savage and Emma Tirrell. The girls will be eligible for the JVA All-National team in June.
SP youth football signups underway
Online registration for South Portland Youth Football is ongoing. Registration is for grades 2-8 and can be done at southportlandfootball.com/Register.html. There’s a $20 late fee after June 1.
Running program underway
Maine Running Hall of Famer Ziggy Gillespie is presenting a six-month individual training/racing program. The program is open to male and female runners of any ability level. Workouts are Wednesday nights at 6 at Maine Running Company on Marginal Way in Portland. FMI,happy2smiles2001@yahoo.com.
Volleyball clinic upcoming
Maine Juniors and the U-16 Gold team will host a youth volleyball clinic Saturdays April 11, 18 and 25 at the Baxter School for the Deaf on Mackworth Island in Falmouth. The clinic is for boys and girls in grades 2 through 7. Grades 2 through 4 go from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and grades 5 through 7 go from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $40. FMI,mainejuniors.org.
