AUGUSTA — The state of Maine is looking for applications for coastal projects that address issues such as public access and habitat restoration.
The state Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is taking the applications for fiscal year 2016. The funding is from an annual grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the department’s Submerged Lands Program.
The funding includes “coastal communities” grants that go up to $50,000 and “shore and harbor” grants that go up to $30,000. The program is designed to address coastal sustainability issues, land use activity on water quality, preparation for coastal hazards and restoration of coastal habitat.
