PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Taylor Lux and Kristen Duross drove in four runs apiece as the University of Southern Maine swept Rhode Island College 14-8 and 10-5 in a softball doubleheader Saturday.

In the first game, the Huskies (11-7, 2-2 Little East) scored in every inning but the fifth. Duross started things off with an RBI double in the first inning. Southern Maine scored three more runs in the second on an error, an RBI single by Mary Caron and an RBI double by Courtney Davis.

Rhode Island College (2-10, 0-2) took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the second, but Southern Maine went ahead for good in the third on a two-run single by Lux.

Erika Millett (5-4) gave up nine hits, three walks and struck out six to earn the win for Southern Maine.

For RIC, starter Lauren Di- Scuillo took the loss after giving up nine hits and six runs through three innings.

Southern Maine scored six unearned runs in the second game.The Huskies took the lead in the second inning, breaking a 2-2 tie when Caron and Lux scored on an error.

Caron scored three runs and also had a triple in the second game.

On the mound, Amber Kelly (5-3) surrendered nine hits and walked three in a complete game. For RIC, Katelyn McCaughey (0-6) struck out three and allowed four earned runs on 11 hits and four walks.

TRINITY 7, COLBY 5: The Bantams (4-9, 1-2 NESCAC) scored six runs in the sixth inning to rally to a win over the Mules (4-8, 2-1) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Colby took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a leadoff homer by Meaghan Lewia. In the second inning, Lewia drove in a run with a double and the Mules scored three runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Grace Farnkoff added a two-run double for Colby.

Trinity scored three runs on a walk and four straight singles to start the sixth. The Bantams added three more runs on three straight two-out singles to take a 6-5 lead.

Hannah King earned the win, striking out nine and walking two.

LACROSSE

BOWDOIN 13, ENDICOTT 8: The Polar Bears (8-2) scored five goals in the first 7:18 to jump out to an early lead and cruised past the Gulls (6-4) in a nonconference match at Brunswick.

Bowdoin outshot Endicott 38-22 and forced 17 turnovers.

Mettler Growney had four goals and an assist for the Polar Bears, while Lindsey Picard added three goals and an assist.

Ellie Clayman, Emily Whitney and Siri Mason each had a pair of goals for the Gulls.

Isabel Sippel and Kayli Weiss combined for 11 saves for Bowdoin, while Maura Grady stopped 18 shots for Endicott.

ST. JOSEPH’S 20, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 3: The Monks (8-1, 5-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference) scored 16 straight goals to close out the first half as they dominated the Falcons (1-11, 0-1) in a game played at Memorial Field in Portland.

Jenny Luna gave Albertus Magnus a 1-0 lead at 27:02 of the first half.

It was the only goal of the first half for the Falcons, who were outshot, 27-4.

Elizabeth Eldock scored four goals to lead St. Joseph’s, while Elyse Caiazzo added three goals and three assists. Eleven different players scored for St. Joseph’s.

Maria Case stopped 14 shots for Albertus Magnus, while Meghan Fullerton needed to record only one save.

MIDDLEBURY 7, COLBY 5: The Panthers (8-1, 5-1 NESCAC), ranked third nationally, scored five straight goals in the first 18:14 and held on to knock off the second-ranked Mules (9-2, 4-2) at Waterville.

Laurel Pascal had three goals to lead Middlebury.

Abby Hatch had two goals and two assists to lead Colby, while Abby Hooper added a pair of goals.

Madeleine Kinker stopped 10 shots for the Panthers, and Claire Dickson made seven saves for the Mules.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 18, SOUTHERN MAINE 8: Hannah Warren scored six goals and Katie Cawley added five as the Nor’easters (5-6) cruised to a win over the Huskies (2-8) in Biddeford.

UNE led 10-3 at halftime thanks to seven straight goals in a span of 6:24. The Nor’easters outshot the Huskies, 35-24.

Jessica Deedon added two goals and two assists for UNE, and Nikki Smith also scored twice.

Anh Nguyen, Nicole LaPlante and Sam Campobasso each scored two goals for the Huskies.

Caley Presby made 11 saves for Southern Maine.

BATES 15, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 8: The Bobcats (6-7, 2-6 NESCAC) scored the final six goals of the first half to break open a tight game and beat the Camels (2-8, 0-6) at Lewiston.

Moriah Greenstein led the offensive attack for Bates with four goals and three assists, Emma Getsinger also had three goals, while Emma Noto added a pair.

Lacey Hale notched a pair of goals for Connecticut College.

Jill Conway and Hannah Jeffrey split time in the cage for the Bobcats stopping a total of nine shots. Megan Fahey made three saves for the Camels.
