First Yard Sale of Season?

Windham Historical Society’s first yard sale of the season will be on Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the old Grange Hall, corner of the rotary. There is parking behind the building and a handicapped ramp. Lots of unique treasures and something for everyone – no toys. Proceeds help build the Society’s Village Green, which will be adjacent to the town’s only history museum.

Dancing with the Staff

The finale of “Dancing with the Staff” will be on Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at Windham Performing Arts Center. The event supports Project Graduation 2015.

Tickets are available at all RSU 14 schools. Adults are $10 and students are $5. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. This event is always a sellout, so plan to purchase your tickets now.

The April luncheon at Windham Community Cafe? at Unity Gardens on Tandberg Trail will be held at noon on Thursday, April 16. The menu includes pot roast, mashed potato, gravy, vegetable, roll and dessert. Call Virginia at 892-3891 by April 13 to make reservations. The program’s speakers will be AARP Maine Communication Director Jane Margesson and Windham Police Officer Matt Cyr, presenting an AARP Fraud Prevention Workshop. Learn how to be a fraud fighter and protect yourself from scams.

Vietnam War 50th Anniversary

This is an open invitation to all Vietnam veterans who served in-country during the conflict to contact Field-Allen Post 148 Americanism Officer, Rodney Voisine. Medicare Aid

On Tuesday, April 21, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) will offer Medicare help in the Lakes Region at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham.

A “Welcome to Medicare” seminar is scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon. In addition to the seminar, there will be one-on-one counseling with volunteer Medicare advocates available from 9 a.m.-noon. Call the Southern Maine Agency on Aging to register for the seminar or to make a one-on-one appointment with a Medicare Advocate at 396-6500 or 1-800-427-7411. Seminar walk-ins can usually be accommodated. Further opportunities for these services will occur at the same location in May. Members of the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce celebrated a grand opening of the new Microtel Inn & Suites on March 25. The event was attended by more than 200 people eager to tour the new hotel and meet the team behind the project. Developer Erik Heyland was on hand to give everyone a warm welcome and share his excitement for joining the Sebago Lakes Region business community. The event included food and beverage catered by Rustlers Steakhouse, introductions to the newest chamber members and fun prize give-a-ways.
