ORONO — Kevin Stypulkowski went 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored and also stole a base as the University of Maine shut out the University of Maine-Presque Isle 6-0 Tuesday in baseball.

Jeff Gelinas, Charlie Butler, Jonah Normandeau and Clay Conaway combined on the shutout for the Black Bears (12-19). Butler earned the win after striking out seven batters over four innings of relief.

Sam Balzano added two hits, scored a run and stole three bases for the Black Bears and Brian Doran drove in a pair of runs and stole two bases.

Mitch Thayer had a pair of hits for the Owls (4-10).

ST. JOSEPH’S 2, ENDICOTT 1: The Monks overcame an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning and defeated the Gulls in a nonconference game at Beverly, Massachusetts.

St. Joseph’s answered with an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning, when Brett Barbati lined a single to center field to score Lincoln Sanborn after an Endicott error.

Scott Betts picked up the eventual winning RBI when he doubled to left field to knock in Dan Donovan in the top of the seventh.

Matt Wojciak got the win for the Monks (18-10).

SOUTHERN MAINE 6, UMASS-BOSTON 1: Sam Dexter hit a pair of doubles and finished with three hits, three RBI, one run scored and one stolen base to pace a 13-hit attack as the Huskies (16-6, 5-2) topped the Beacons (10-10, 3-4) in a Little East game at Gorham.

BOWDOIN SPLITS WITH HUSSON: Aaron Rosen went 3 for 4, including a double and triple and three RBI as the Polar Bears (9-14) won 11-5 over the Eagles in the second game of a nonconference doubleheader at Bangor.

Brandon Gendreau hit an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning for the Eagles (18-11) as Husson won the first game 1-0.

ST. JOSEPH’S (CONN.) SWEEPS ST. JOSEPH’S: Patti Sciglimpaglia threw a five-hitter with eight strikeouts in the opener and had three hits and three RBI in the second game to lead the Blue Jays (13-12, 9-6) to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of the Monks (19-7, 11-5) at West Hartford, Connecticut, 4-2 and 5-1.

COLBY SPLITS WITH THOMAS: Megan Michie picked up a complete-game victory, allowing just one earned run on seven hits as the Mules (6-13) won 6-2 in the second game of a nonconference doubleheader at Waterville.

The Terriers (3-15) won the first game 8-0 in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Korrie Laren went 1 for 2 with three runs scored for Thomas.

PLYMOUTH STATE SWEEPS SOUTHERN MAINE: Abrie Davis opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Panthers (6-13, 3-2) held on for a 2-1 win over the Huskies (15-13, 3-5) in the opener of a Little East doubleheader at Gorham.

The Panthers won the second game 4-1 on a two-hitter by Jessica Pietersen.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 18, CURRY 6: Rachel Schwaner collected four goals and one assist to lead the Nor’easters (7-7, 4-2) as they cruised to a Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the Colonels (5-9, 1-5) at Milton, Massachusetts.

Gina Newsome, Hannah Warren and Nikki Smith added three goals apiece for UNE; Newsome and Warren each had one assist.

Courtey Kendall, Lauryn Huck and Maddy Ouellette combined to make 13 saves for the Nor’easters, who outshot the Colonels 40-22.

SOUTHERN MAINE 20, RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 7: Sarah Pelligrinelli and Sam Campobasso combined for 11 goals as the Huskies (4-9, 1-2 Little East) rolled past the Anchormen (0-10, 0-4) at Gorham.

Southern Maine enjoyed a 34-10 advantage in shots on goal and forced 27 RIC turnovers as they jumped to a 13-0 halftime lead.

Pelligrinelli had six goals and an assist and Campobasso finished with five goals and a pair of assists for the Huskies.02

Alasondra Apici stopped 14 shots for the Anchormen; Nia Kelly and Caley Presby split time in goal combining for three saves for USM.

MEN’S LACROSSE

EMMANUEL 12, ST. JOSEPH’S 4: Donnie Litzelman collected three goals and four assists for the Saints (10-4, 7-0) as they scored the first five goals of the game while racing to a 9-1 halftime lead against the Monks (5-8, 2-5) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at Boston.

Matt Donnell had one goal and one assist for the Monks.

COLBY 13, BOWDOIN 9: Kevin Seiler scored three goals and assisted on another for the Mules (7-5, 3-5) as they used a 3-1 run over the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter to pull away from the Polar Bears (3-10, 2-6) in a NESCAC game at Waterville.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 9, CURRY 4: The Nor’easters (8-7, 3-3 Commonwealth Coast Conference) scored three unanswered goals in the second half and defeated the Colonels (4-9, 1-5) at Milton, Massachusetts.
