STANDISH — Kylie McFadden pitched a one-hitter in the second game Wednesday as St. Joseph’s defeated Anna Maria 10-2 and 4-0 in softball at Bailey’s Field.

St. Joseph’s (21-7) needed just five innings to win the first game. The Monks scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to boost their lead to eight. Theresa Hendrix started the rally with a three-run homer, Megan Pollini followed with a sacrifice fly and Jennifer Murphy scored on an error. Hendrix finished 3 for 3 with three RBI and three runs.

Laura Jordan got the win, giving up seven hits and two runs while walking one and striking out four.

McFadden (6-0) struck out five in the second game against the Amcats (3-22). Kim Jordan knocked in the winning run with an RBI single in the first. Melissa Mayhew added two RBI on a pair of singles for the Monks and Hendrix belted an RBI double.

BOWDOIN, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND, SPLIT: The University of New England (14-12) scored three runs in the top of the first inning of the second game and held on for a doubleheader split with Bowdoin (19-9) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin downed the Nor’easters 9-1 in five innings in the first game and were a run short, 3-2 in the second.

In the first game, the Polar Bears scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth, allowing the eight-run rule to take effect.

In the second game, Paige Moore-Haskell started the Nor’easters’ first-inning rally with an RBI double.

MEN’S LACROSSE

PLYMOUTH STATE 8, SOUTHERN MAINE 7: Senior Nick Morello scored the winning goal with 2:45 left as the Panthers (10-1, 4-0 LEC) edged the Huskies (6-4, 1-3) at Gorham.

Morello’s goal gave the Panthers an 8-6 lead. On the ensuing faceoff, sophomore Seth Wing scooped up a ground ball and released a shot into the top tight corner to put the Huskies within one.

Wing, Austin Watts and Tyler Jamison each scored twice for the Huskies.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 8, REGIS 6: Kat Gadbois scored three goals, including the Monks’ final two, as St. Joseph’s (13-1) got by Regis (7-5) in a nonconference match at Deering High School.
