ORONO — Police made one arrest and dispersed hundreds of people who were drinking and playing games at an off-campus apartment complex near the University of Maine.
Police say many as 400 people may have gathered at The Grove apartments on Wednesday.
Capt. Scott Scripture tells WABI-TV that many were drinking and some bottles were thrown.
One man, identified as 20-year-old Tyler Nicoletti, was arrested for allegedly damaging a car’s windshield. He was charged with criminal mischief and refusal to submit to arrest.
Most classes were cancelled at the university Wednesday because of “Maine Day” — when students and staff are encouraged to help clean up the campus.
