Re: “Our View: There’s no reason for Maine to fast-track GMO labeling mandate” (May 4):

Why should genetically engineered foods or foods with ingredients from genetically modified organisms be labeled? Any person ready to buy a food product should know what they are buying, no?

And if Monsanto and others claim there is no health risk in eating GMOs, then why are they afraid to print it on the label? The answer is that fear of consumers NOT buying GMOs has stirred their survival mode.

If they have nothing to hide, then tell us. After all, we are shelling out the money to buy this food, and we have a right to know what we are consuming.
