So let me get this straight. L.D. 652 would allow a typical Mainer to carry a loaded and concealed handgun, on their person or in a car, without a permit.
Yet it would still be illegal to carry a concealed slingshot, brass knuckles, Bowie knife, dirk or stiletto, or even own a switchblade, whether concealed or not. Because a handgun isn’t as dangerous? Really?
Speaking as a Mainer who’s hunted for many years, it’s not the law-abiding, responsible citizens I’m worried about. It’s all those others who are not as calm and in control at all times. Talk about promoting an arms race.
