Thank you for running the story “After a spat, a wayward llama finds a friend” in the June 3 edition.

I expected the story to end in horror, with police surrounding the house and an ensuing massive shootout. Instead, it ended sensibly and with humor, with Gilbert the llama simply going home to his owner – who lived a block away.

Shawn Quimby – whose day was disrupted by Gilbert, yet was savvy enough to simply put a leash on Gilbert to keep him contained for the day – deserves accolades! And thank you to the Madison police for not overreacting and Morning Sentinel reporter Rachel Ohm for writing the story.

Please run a few more charming, happy ending stories. Surely there are many more in Maine every day.
