SANFORD — A man was injured in a farming accident Thursday evening in Sanford.

The Sanford Fire Department said the man was run over by a farm tractor around 6:20 p.m. The accident took place at 36 Chick Road.

Authorities called for the victim to be transported by LifeFlight helicopter, but the fire department said the man ended up being taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The extent of his injuries is not known, but the man was conscious when he was placed in the ambulance.
