Thank you for your coverage Tuesday of Bernie Sanders’ more-than-successful appearance in Portland on Monday night (“Bernie Sanders’ populist message draws thousands to campaign event in Portland”).
He is clearly sending a powerful message to the people of the United States, which can be summed up by pointing out that the Constitution does not read “We the corporations …,” but “We the people.”
I have chosen to send a copy of this letter to Kathleen Parker in the hopes that she rethinks her column Tuesday comparing Donald Trump and Sanders (“Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump put one in mind of alternative universes”) and predicting that neither will be around for long. She is so wrong!
She is also making a poor observation. Trump is an entertainer and entrepreneur. How can she choose to put him in second place behind Jeb Bush with all those candidates running?
Sanders has been a serious politician for many years, and he is appealing to a large number of people who have not been involved in prior elections.
Hillary Clinton had better be concerned and not watch the polls but watch who comes out to Sanders’ events!
