The L.L. Bean Summer in the Park series is always family oriented, but children will get special attention in the L.L. Bean KidsFest on Saturday, July 11.

All events are free, and take place on the company’s big campus in the center of Freeport village. Events begin at 10 a.m., and run throughout the day.

Mac McKeever, L.L. Bean spokesman, said that KidsFest is about fun.

“Our KidsFest is a celebration of all that it means to be a little one in the summer – whimsical, active, outdoorsy, carefree, a little zany, but most of all a lot of fun,” he said. “Kids of all ages (and parents, too) are invited to come and spend a full day of free family fun with us.

Steve Corning and Shane Miclon, who make up the juggling/comedy/magic team called Double or Nothing, will mix up their acts on the Discovery Stage for basically the entire afternoon. Double or Nothing will coach kids with beanbags and other juggling props at noon, then at 1 p.m. the duo will do its comedy/magic act. It’s back to the juggling props at 2, and at 3, Double or Nothing will do its comedy/magic routine for the second time.

“We’re juggling shows,” Corning said. “We won’t have (microphones) or music for the juggling – we’ll just be doing stuff with the audience and walking around, and teaching people how to juggle. Our show is a variety show.”

Corning, who hails from South Paris, has performed at theaters and resorts around the country, and aboard Disney Cruise Lines. He also tours as a member of the electronic-comedy duo AudioBody and spends his free time writing the original electronic music heard in the show “ThinkFishTank.”

Miclon, from Buckfield, has been juggling since he could walk. He has toured nationally as a member of Cirque Mechanics and locally with Circus Ole.

“Shane is a phenomenal juggler,” Corning said. “I’m a decent juggler, but I also do contortions and escape artistry.”
