WELLS — Luke Chessie’s two-out double in the top of the seventh drove home Adam Gibbons with the go-ahead run, lifting Fayette-Staples to a 4-3 victory over Wells Post 143 in a Zone 4 American Legion baseball game Thursday.

Gibbons led off the inning with a double.

After falling behind 3-0 in the fourth inning, Wells (7-6) rallied with three runs in the sixth, tying the game on a two-out single by Nick Cousins.

Brogan Searle-Belanger scattered six hits in a complete game for Fayette-Staples (8-6).

YARMOUTH 9, LIBBY-MITCHELL 8: Brian Nason scored on Max Doughty’s base hit to break a 6-6 tie in the fifth, Justin McKenna added a two-run homer in the sixth and Yarmouth (5-10) won at home.

Yarmouth overcame a 3-0 deficit with a six-run fourth. C.J. Cawley keyed the rally with a two-run double.

Matt Denison hit a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to tie it for Libby-Mitchell.

YANKEE FORD 6, GRAY-GREELY 2: James Sinclair tossed a two-hitter, holding Gray-Greely to two unearned runs while striking out eight and walking none in a victory at Portland.

Yankee Ford (8-6) took the lead with five runs in the sixth. Alex Jacobs hit a bases-clearing double.

ANDREWS POST 12, SEBAGO LAKERS 2: Zach Fortin hit a two-out, two-run single to spark a six-run first inning as Andrews Post downed the Sebago Lakers in five innings at Deering Oaks.

Jake Knop and Connor MacDowell each hit a single and a double for Andrews, which added six runs in the second.

Charles Barnard pitched a four-hitter for the win.

STAPLES CROSSING 8, NOBLE 6: Luke Stankovich had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs for Staples Crossing (12-2), which built an 8-2 lead and held off Noble at South Berwick.

Cole McDaniel added a solo home run and a sacrifice fly for Staples Crossing, which scored three runs in the third and three in the fourth to break it open.

Chase Hamilton singled and doubled for Noble.
