The bottom line on the upcoming weekend forecast is most of the time is dry. I know there are showers in the forecast both days, with an emphasis on Saturday morning and late that same day, but the reality is any rainfall that does occur will be light and brief.

This isn’t a perfect weekend of weather if you are looking for brilliant sunshine and no clouds. It will however, become quite warm and muggy during the weekend with highs on Sunday nearing the 90 degree mark inland.

Today is the best day of the next three in my opinion because of the low humidity, sunshine and light winds. Temperatures will be very typical for mid-July, if not on the lower side of average.

As an aside, a few spots in northern Maine got into the upper 30s briefly last night for a quick taste of the season I won’t even name right now. I will say it was one of the most comfortable nights of sleeping with the windows open I can remember in July.

I was asked on Twitter about postponing plans for the beach this weekend. (I will answer questions when I can @growingwisdom).

Unless it’s wet or very cold, I think the beach or lake can be a great spot even on days with clouds. It’s such a personal preference when it comes to what we like at the beach. A cloudless day at 95 degrees would be heaven for some of you, but I’d be under a huge umbrella slathered in sunscreen wanting to get into a cooler less UV intensive environment.

So Saturday will have a lot of clouds, but after a few morning showers, I think it will be fine to be at the beach. Remember, you can get quite a sunburn, even on cloudy days. The map below shows how warm it will be across New England tomorrow. Notice many spots are back into the 80s.

Sunday is a better day because there will be more in the way of sunshine. We still can’t remove the risk of a pop-up thunderstorm, but generally most of us don’t see them. It will be very humid Sunday with dew points reaching the mid-60s to lower 70s. Although there will be fluctuations in humidity next week, generally, it looks quite high.

Temperatures on Sunday reach well into the 80s and when you add in the humidity, being by a body of water will be preferable.
The map below shows just how warm it becomes on Sunday. Notice northern Vermont, away from the influence of the ocean has some of the highest temperatures.

Tides are high in the early part of the afternoon this weekend and aren’t particularly high astronomically. This means more of the beach will stay exposed, even when the water is up.

Rainfall totals from the showers and possible storms will vary, but the map below give an idea of possible amounts through the entire weekend.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make it a great one, there’s only one more full weekend in July.
