Former Deering High coach Dan LeGage has been hired to coach boys’ basketball at Westbrook High, athletic director Mike Connolly announced.

LeGage won Class A state championships in 2008 and 2009 during his 11-year tenure at Deering. He led the Rams to a 143-75 record before resigning in March 2013. Previously, LeGage served as an assistant coach at Portland High and St. Joseph’s College.

“We feel very fortunate to have a coach with Dan LeGage’s background joining our team,” Connolly said in a press release. “He has proven ability to build a strong program in a diverse community similar to ours at Westbrook High School.”

LeGage played college basketball at UMaine-Farmington and was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame in 2013.
