A Brunswick man initially charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attacking another man with a baseball bat Saturday night has been released from jail.

A booking officer at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland said Anthony White, 47, was released Monday after the charge against him was dismissed in court.

WCSH-TV reported that a Brunswick police officer encountered a 25-year-old man on Union Street Saturday night bleeding from his head. The man told police that White hit him several times in the head and shoulder with a baseball bat. The man was taken to Mid Coast Hospital with unknown injuries.
