Prior to the Pearl Harbor attack, Americans overwhelmingly opposed war against Germany or Japan.

Sometimes in a politician’s career, he or she must lead in a direction people don’t want to go. President Obama is doing that now, and we should hope he’s successful.

In any international crisis, the parties should first try diplomacy. There will always be groups that want a war.

The president who tracked down Osama bin Laden wants to settle things, for now, by diplomacy. He has told Iran they cannot have a nuclear bomb.

If the president has to, he will protect Israel and that region by military action against Iran. His duty and our best opportunity now is to give this process a chance, popular or not.
