BANGOR (AP) — A Superior Court judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a Maine man who is awaiting sentencing for killing his ex-girlfriend in November 2013.

Zackery Mailloux pleaded guilty in July to restraining and killing Husson University student Brooke Locke. Bangor police said they found the 21-year-old former Auburn resident’s body while responding to a complaint of domestic violence.

The 23-year-old Mailloux, who dialed 911 to report the death, was originally charged with murder, kidnapping and rape. Under the agreement, the gross sexual assault charge was dropped.

Judge Ann Murray said Monday that the evaluation will aid her in sentencing. Mailloux. No sentencing date has been set.
