University of Maine senior Liz Wood and junior Sigi Koizar earned two of the five spots on the America East women’s basketball preseason all-conference team, the league announced Wednesday.

Maine was picked to finish second, behind Albany, in the coaches’ poll. Last winter, Maine and Albany tied for first during the regular season with 14-2 records in conference play. Albany won the league’s postseason tournament and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Wood, a forward, averaged 13.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.7 steals last season. Koizar, a guard, averaged a team-high 14.3 points with 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

The Black Bears begin the regular season Nov. 13 at Harvard.

FIELD HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 4, HUSSON 0: Rachel Kennedy and Kimmy Ganong scored two goals apiece to lead Bowdoin (13-0) past Husson (6-8) at Brunswick.

Defender Kelsey Mullaney set up three of the four goals.

Clara Belitz made one save in the shutout. Anne Marie Provencal made 12 saves for the Eagles.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

BOWDOIN 3, COLBY 0: Maggie Godley scored 9:43 into the match to get Bowdoin (8-4-1, 5-3-0 NESCAC) started in a win over Colby (4-8-1, 0-7-1) at Brunswick.

Jill Rathke scored off a rebound in the 75th minute, and eight minutes later Taylor Haist lofted in a 20-yard shot.

Bridget McCarthy needed just one save to record her second straight shutout. Samantha Rizzo had eight stops for the Mules.

GORDON 2, UNE 1: Kaelyn Silveira scored on a header 1:15 into overtime to give Gordon (5-6-3, 3-3-1 Commonwealth Coast) a come-from-behind victory at Wenham, Massachusetts.

Silveira’s winner came off a corner kick from Jamie Breton.

Taylor Littlefield gave the Nor’easters (10-5-0, 5-2-0) the lead in the 27th minute. Gordon tied it in the 68th on Lauren Hayes’ goal.

Gordon’s McKenzie Dion turned away 14 shots. Brielle Robinson stopped four for UNE.

FRAMINGHAM STATE 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Marissa Miele scored three goals for Framingham State (8-5-2) in a win at Gorham.

Jessica Preble scored for the Huskies (3-11-0) at 50:03.

Miele’s third goal made it 3-1 in the 71st minute and Megan White scored at 72:52.

Southern Maine’s Marissa Temple made seven saves.

EMMANUEL 3, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Katelyn Fink scored two goals and Victoria made two saves to lead Emmanuel (10-8, 8-2 GNAC) in a shutout of St. Joseph’s (8-9, 5-5) at Boston.

Brooke Troup stopped nine shots for the Monks.

MEN’S SOCCER

GORDON 1, UNE 0: Josh Beveridge scored early in the second overtime to give Gordon (11-3, 6-1 CCC) a win over the University of New England at Wenham, Massachusetts.

Josh Spoonhour recorded the shutout without a save. For the Nor’easters (3-14, 0-7), Jake Rostkowski made five.

LASELL 2, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Conor Fitzgerald scored two second-half goals, Miguel Colmenares made five saves and Lasell (3-10, 3-5 GNAC) blanked St. Joseph’s (10-5-1, 5-3), at Newton, Massachusetts.

The Monks’ Blake Mullen made five saves.
