Two people were arrested Friday and charged with burglary and theft in connection with a break-in at the Standish home of a Maine State Police trooper in September.

Mark Lindholm, 43, and Meggan Wainwright, 34, both of Westbrook, were arrested in connection with a burglary at the house of Trooper Joseph Bureau. Two handguns, a rifle, a state police ID and personal items were taken, according to a news release from the state police on Monday.

The arrests were the result of an investigation by Falmouth police Detective Jeff Pardue, who uncovered information linking the couple to the burglary. A search warrant was obtained Friday and Falmouth and Westbrook police, along with state police, searched the couple’s house at 473 Methodist Road. Both Lindholm and Wainwright were taken into custody without incident.

Several items linking the two to the burglary were discovered, although the three firearms were not found.

Evidence of other crimes also was discovered during the search, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.
