Longtime Bowdoin men’s hockey coach Terry Meagher has announced that he will retire following the 2015-16 season. Meagher will begin his 33rd season with the Polar Bears with an overall record of 529-245-54. He ranks sixth in Division III history in wins.

Meagher has qualified the Polar Bears for the NESCAC Championship in every year of its existence, winning back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014. Prior to that, Meagher brought Bowdoin to eight appearances in the championship game of the ECAC Tournament, winning in 1986 and 1993. The Polar Bears have made six NCAA tournament appearances under Meagher. He was named Division III National Coach of the Year by the American Hockey Coaches’ Association in 1986 and 1989.

He has coached 21 All-Americans.

Bowdoin has had only two head varsity men’s hockey coaches in the past 56 years. Meagher succeeded the legendary Sid Watson. Dating back to 1959, the pair have accounted for 855 wins.
