As a lifetime Mainer and a former resident of Portland, I encourage the voters of that city to re-elect Mike Brennan as mayor.

I’ve known Mike for nearly 30 years and have closely followed his progress as mayor. He knows how to set a policy goal and to work tirelessly in that direction.

He has made progress in many areas and has ruffled some feathers, to be sure. But that’s because Mike is like a compass: always pointing toward the chosen policy goal despite the obstacles. His opponents are more like weathervanes who point in different directions depending on the prevailing winds.

In a challenging policy environment, Portland needs a compass more than it needs a weathervane. I encourage you to give Mike Brennan four more years to finish the fine work he has started.
