I was surprised and disheartened that the Portland Press Herald has chosen to support Ethan Strimling for mayor and further distressed that the reasons were not backed by facts.
The paper claims he is “unrivaled in his ability to define issues” and to get things done. Because he’s director of LearningWorks, was a state legislator and wrote a political column for the paper?
A subheading read: “Meeting the Voters Where They Are.”
In the last four years, I’ve seen Mike Brennan at every Labor Day breakfast and every homeless vigil. He has supported local authors at bookstores, diversity at gay pride parades, artists at First Friday Art Walks.
He’s been at library events and spaghetti suppers, and at a children’s program at Deering Oaks, I saw him crouched eye-to-eye with a child talking about books.
That’s meeting the people where they are! Mike Brennan has my vote.
