I hope that when Maine goes to the polls Nov. 3, voters will remember how we all suffered from bad potholes this spring and support the transportation bond, which is Question 3 on the ballot.

We need to invest in safer, more efficient bridges and highways, and this bond includes $68 million that would be used for just that, along with another $17 million plus for airports, marine facilities, bicycle and pedestrian and transit across the state.

The $85 million would be matched with over $121 million in federal and local matching funds.

Maine’s economy will get nowhere if we don’t commit the effort and dollars we need to fix our substandard transportation system. Voting “yes” on Question 3 is an important start.
