I have been immensely impressed with Tom MacMillan, the Green Independent Party candidate for mayor of Portland. There is little difference between the other two gentlemen other than style.
Sadly, third-party candidates are often overlooked and given little possibility of winning. Mr. MacMillan presents a way of “doing business” that is far more in line with global initiatives to combat climate change, to recognize the needs of our working class, to battle gentrification even as it begins to consume our city.
He has a clear vision for the future of Portland as we move into this next period of time – one that considers both the environment and the needs of all the citizens of Portland.
Can we really afford to continue with business as usual?
