I write to express my enthusiastic support for Spencer Thibodeau for Portland City Council, District 2.
As a retired Portland firefighter, serving on the force for 35 years, and a lifelong Portland resident, I believe that Portland needs a councilor who understands when to be a team player and when to be a leader.
Moreover, Portland needs a councilor who understands that property taxes are forcing the very people who built this city to move. Spencer Thibodeau gets it!
When I met Spencer in early June, I was impressed by his progressive vision for Portland in addition to his understanding of budgetary limitations to municipal governance. It is this thoughtful balance that I believe ensures that I, as a retiree, can continue to live in the city I once served and the city I love.
I hope you will join me in supporting Spencer for City Council on Nov. 3.
