An important issue comes before Portland voters Nov. 3. This is local Question 2, concerning views along our waterfront.

The developers of the Portland Co. property have won city approval to rezone the site, which includes view corridors. Since that approval, a small group of Portland landowners along Fore Street initiated this referendum, as they feel their view will be blocked by the proposed development of the Portland Co. property.

For a few to even think about holding up a major development that would create jobs and enhance our waterfront is sad and selfish.

This is especially true since these folks can leave their homes, take a left and walk about 200 yards up to Fort Allen Park for a magnificent view of Casco Bay and the islands (unless the fog is in).

I urge Portland voters to vote “no” on Question 2 so the city can move forward in a positive way.
