I’ll be voting for Michael Brennan this Election Day.

Mike has doggedly fought for this city over the past four years, during a period when Portland has faced unprecedented and undeserved abuse from Gov. LePage and Augusta. I can’t imagine a more difficult time to be leading this city, a task that has required imagination, improvisation and decisiveness.

I’ve appreciated not only his steady communications and regular presence at the State House but his work locally. A few examples include the Growing Portland collaborative with the Chamber; local transportation, harbor and transit improvements, and his successful advocacy to secure $20 million for the reconstruction of the Hall School.

He’s worked hard as our first elected mayor in almost a century, as Portland has emerged from the nation’s worst recession since the 1930s. I’d like to see him have the opportunity to continue this important work.
